At the wheel of his familiar #47 Weather<\/strong><\/a>Tech Canada<\/strong><\/a> | Groupe Bellemare<\/strong><\/a> racer, Louis-Philippe Dumoulin drew upon his knowledge of the Sunset Speedway oval on Saturday night (May 14) to position himself well throughout the practice session, qualifying and the first half of the 250-lap race. The NTN Ultimate Bearing Experience 250<\/em> race was action-filled, as the experienced driver battled with the leaders in the first half of the race and defended his position afterwards in a car that was becoming increasingly complex to drive.\u00a0<\/p>\n

“We were third on the grid and the race was developing as planned for me. Everything was in place for a top-5 finish, a podium or even victory. Treyten Lapcevich won the race, and our lap times were similar. Some adjustments had to be made during the mandatory mid-race pit stop and a mistake occurred during the break: first off, a spring rubber was correctly mounted in the left rear suspension spring. However, a right-side tire was then installed on the left side of the car, so that the car was now fitted with two right-side tires at the back, an unworkable situation because of the different tire and suspensions setting on each side. Unfortunately, the car was now uncompetitive and really undrivable! We win as a team, and we lose as a team. Knowing that we could have done so much better, finishing with this result is disappointing. Now we look ahead, and the focus is on Mosport,” explained the driver of the #47 Weather<\/strong>Tech Canada <\/strong>| Groupe Bellemare car.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Practice and <\/strong>qualifying<\/strong><\/p>\n

The team is renewed this year and a new synergy is already there, especially with Benoit Lagani\u00e8re who, after 12 years with Dumoulin Competition (logistics and then mechanics), has been named Crew Chief this season. “We are used to working together and our planning has paid off. The times in practice were good and we improved on them in qualifying. The track temperature will drop between now and the start of the race. The key is to anticipate as closely as possible how the car will behave through those changes during the race. I can’t wait to see how it goes, it’s a long race and we are a new team,” added Louis-Philippe Dumoulin before the race.<\/p>\n

The #47 Weather<\/strong><\/a>Tech Canada<\/strong> | Groupe Bellemare<\/strong> will be back on track on May 21 and 22 at the Canadian Tire Motorsport Park (CTMP) circuit, for the first of the two Pinty’s events scheduled there this season.<\/p>\n
