Louis-Philippe Dumoulin and the #47 Weather<\/strong>Tech Canada<\/strong><\/a> | Groupe Bellemare<\/a> team made the long trip from Trois-Rivieres to Flamboro Speedway for two 125-lap races held on the almost flat one-third mile oval where overtaking is difficult. Ninth on the starting grid in the first race, Louis-Philippe Dumoulin attacked relentlessly until crossing the finish line seventh. The rain then came and ruined things, preventing the series from holding the second race, which was postponed to a later date.<\/p>\n

“Dumoulin Competition designed a brand-new oval car during the off-season that has proven itself at Sunset Speedway. Returning to an Ontario oval also means that with fast, local drivers added to the grid, the competition will be strong,” said the driver of the #47 WeatherTech Canada<\/strong> | Groupe Bellemare car prior to the start of track activities this morning.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Summary of the day’s events<\/strong><\/p>\n

Initially, the threat of rain forced NASCAR to move up the schedule for on-track activities, reducing the time available for teams to work on their cars.<\/p>\n

The WeatherTech Canada<\/strong> | Groupe Bellemare team tried some new setups at the start of morning practice. These changes did not have the desired effect and the team quickly reverted to the original setup for qualifying.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Qualifying with only two consecutive laps on a short track like Flamboro Speedway is complex. “Starting ninth on the grid doesn’t make things easy for us, but we can do better in the race,” explained Louis-Philippe Dumoulin before the start of the first sprint race.<\/p>\n

Louis-Philippe Dumoulin’s prediction was correct as he finished seventh, however, a drop in performance halfway through the race denied him a better result. “We were confident in the set-up before the race, but as the laps went by the car lost its efficiency in acceleration and braking, it simply lacked speed at the end of the race,” concluded the driver after the race.<\/p>\n
