NASCAR Pinty’s Series – “The 50 Tours Hotel Le Concorde”<\/div>\n

The Dumoulin family celebrates <\/strong>“50 years at the wheel” <\/strong>&\u00a0<\/strong>25th<\/sup> participation<\/strong> in the Grand Prix de Trois-Rivi\u00e8res for Jean-Fran\u00e7ois Dumoulin<\/strong><\/p>\n

Jean-Fran\u00e7ois Dumoulin and the #04 Spectra Premium<\/strong> | Groupe Bellemare | Trois-Rivi\u00e8res Mitsubishi | MIA | Bernier Cr\u00e9peau Chrysler Fiat crew can say “mission accomplished” this weekend: from the preparation of the four cars to the race strategy, they were ready. The Spectra Premium<\/strong> Groupe Bellemare | Trois-Rivi\u00e8res Mitsubishi | MIA | Bernier Cr\u00e9peau Chrysler Fiat, experienced a race in his own image: combative and controlled, with increasing speed as the race drew to a close. Eleventh on the starting grid, following the sudden changes in the weather that caused the cancellation of the practice and qualifying sessions, Jean-Fran\u00e7ois Dumoulin quickly made his way to the top-6. A pit stop due to a slow puncture (20th<\/sup> lap) did not slow Jean-Fran\u00e7ois Dumoulin’s momentum. He made several strategic overtaking moves toward the lead group (36th<\/sup> lap), posted the fastest time of the entire field on lap 38 (1:07.879) and maintained his third position to the chequered flag.<\/p>\n

“We had a great race car!” explains Jean-Fran\u00e7ois Dumoulin. The first pit stop for fuel was effective. On the third lap I bumped with Hathaway, hit the wall and the right front tire sprung a slow leak. The car’s behaviour was no longer optimal, and I had to stop again to change the tire. However, I managed to get back to the lead pack quickly using restarts effectively. Nearer to the end of the race, I was in a solid third place and we decided to finish the race that way. I am so proud for our team, LP won the race and we worked so hard to prepare these four cars, including those of Raphael Lessard and Jean-Frederic Laberge. Our first time on the podium together and it happens in Trois-Rivieres! Rapha\u00ebl Lessard took up the challenge and made a difference by moving from 15th<\/sup> at the start to a 7th<\/sup> place finish, while driving for the first time on a road circuit in the NASCAR Pinty’s series. Jean-Frederic Laberge was involved in a race incident on lap 28 and finished in 16th<\/sup> place.<\/p>\n

50th<\/sup> edition<\/strong> of the Grand Prix de Trois-Rivi\u00e8res and\u00a0<\/strong>“50 years at the wheel”<\/strong> for the Dumoulin family<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Dumoulin family could not have dreamed of a better scenario to celebrate their “50 years at the wheel” and the 50th<\/sup> edition of the Grand Prix de Trois-Rivi\u00e8res. Not only did father and son find themselves on the track together for the first time, but they are also experiencing a historic moment by achieving a double on the podium (Victory and third place) at home, in front of their partners, families, friends and fans.<\/p>\n

Richard Dumoulin<\/strong> was honoured yesterday when he had the opportunity to ride in an original Austin Mini, from the time he was racing at the Grand Prix de Trois-Rivi\u00e8res. And not just any Mini, but a Michel Barrette-owned collector machine that he lent to Richard Dumoulin, then repainted in official Austin Mini colours from the time, and then integrated as part of the 50th<\/sup> anniversary salute to the veteran driver from the early days of the GP3R. The Salute Ceremony to the Dumoulin family’s 50 years on the track will remain forever marked in our memories, thanks to Festidrag President Martin D’Anjou and to Dominic Fug\u00e8re, the General Manager of the Grand Prix de Trois-Rivi\u00e8res, who together orchestrated this tribute.<\/p>\n
