Earlier today at the Auto Sport Show in Quebec City, a partnership between Dumoulin Competition Racing Team and the Mini Sportsman Quebec Mechoui International series was announced. The championship trophy of the of these young apprentices in motor racing will now be called “Dumoulin Competition, partner of the next generation”. Six years ago, Andr\u00e9 Poulin and Charles Gingras came up with an idea of making a stock-car series accessible to young drivers in order to introduce them to the fundamentals of motor racing and thus to develop the next generation.<\/p>\n

“For the 2019 season, the Mini Sportsman Mechoui International Series has the honors to confirm its involvement with Dumoulin Competition. In fact, the champion’s trophy to be defended will now be named after this prestigious team that is currently racing in the NASCAR Pinty’s Series”, said Andr\u00e9 Poulin, president of the Mini Sportsman Quebec Mechoui International Series.<\/p>\n

Two times Champions of the NASCAR Canada series (2014 & 2018), Dumoulin Competition, as well as brothers Jean-Fran\u00e7ois and Louis-Philippe Dumoulin, have always worked for the next generation of athletes.<\/p>\n

“We began our careers as mechanics by organizing spaghetti dinners and karting days to raise money for racing. We want to show these young people that there are folks behind them who encourage them to persevere in their passion. Supporting the next generation of drivers is important for Dumoulin Competition”, says Jean-Fran\u00e7ois Dumoulin. “We want to motivate young people to invest more time in the sport and above all, to feel recognized for their efforts. When we were their age, many people helped us and that’s still the case. It’s now our turn to get involved with tomorrow’s drivers and crew members”, adds Louis-Philippe Dumoulin.<\/p>\n

Mini Sportsman Quebec Mechoui International Series<\/strong><\/p>\n

In 2013, the series included 14 registered drivers, aged 7 to 16, both boys and girls often coming from the local stock car-aware families. These young apprentices took up the challenge that was on offer every time they went on the track and doing their utmost to learn and improve. The series officials all put their hearts and souls into creating an environment where sportsmanship is at the forefront and where everyone is allowed to develop at their own pace. The results were conclusive with seven drivers graduating to higher classes in five years, from Amateur to Compact Sport, Procam and Modified Legend. This list of drivers includes Sabrina Fournier, Tommy Simoneau, Thomas C\u00f4t\u00e9, Mathieu Goulet, Samuel Boyer, J\u00e9r\u00e9my Bergeron and Nicolas C\u00f4t\u00e9.<\/p>\n
