NASCAR Pinty’s\u00a0Series: Ninth race \u2013 Oval track \u2013 Riverside International Speedway \u2013 August 19th<\/sup>, 2018<\/p>\n

The #47 WeatherTech Canada<\/strong> | Groupe Bellemare team put on a demonstration of its strength by applying a race-winning strategy. Louis-Philippe Dumoulin led the race from his start on pole position and paced himself in the middle section of the race. He then regained the lead almost easily and paced himself to his third win this season<\/strong>. The car worked perfectly on the Riverside International Speedway oval.<\/p>\n

The season is not over and won by any means, as the team knows very well. They do, however, understand that a championship is an intelligent assembly of victories, strong finishes, savvy decisions from the technical team, optimal preparation, patience and maturity. Today, Louis-Philippe and his #47 WeatherTech Canada<\/strong> | Groupe Bellemare team showed everyone, specialists, fans, fellow competitors and partners, that the algorithm delivers the goods when the team has the right elements in place.<\/p>\n

“This is a real Team victory, they made all the difference,” explained Louis-Philippe Dumoulin after the race. “We brought a quick car, then turned the second-quickest time in practice (on used tires), then were able to set a pace that kept us on our strategy, ahead of the pack or always ready to pounce like we did on lap 240 of the 300-lap race. We all knew that we were on-track for the win. We were patient, and our team’s race strategy was perfect.” \u00a0<\/p>\n

Off his start from pole position, Louis-Philippe Dumoulin kept the lead comfortably until Lap 91 when a competitor absolutely had to pass him. Louis-Philippe Dumoulin decided to save his powder (tires, brakes and engine) for when it counted, the last lap of this hard 300-lap race. He did keep the pressure on, however, never dropping off from the lead pack, and taking advantage of two well-executed pit stops. This brought him back to third place on lap 226 and on into the lead on lap 240. It was now time to go to into “Race management” mode, pacing himself to remain just out of reach of some determined pursuers while saving some tires for the end. And it all worked out perfectly, with the #47 WeatherTech Canada<\/strong> | Groupe Bellemare car making full use of the performance still in the car to cross the finish line 0.543 sec ahead of the second-place car.<\/p>\n

Race rescheduled<\/strong><\/p>\n

NASCAR officials announced on Saturday (August 18th<\/sup>) morning that the race would be run on Sunday because of persistent rain expected to last all day. Qualifying has been cancelled for Sunday in order to reduce the “dry track” period required to run the practice session and the entire 300-lap race distance. Grid positions are set as per each driver’s ranking in the Series Championship.<\/p>\n

Next race:<\/strong> Canadian Tire Motorsport Park (August 25th<\/sup> and 26th<\/sup>, 2018)<\/p>\n

The #47 WeatherTech Canada<\/strong> | Groupe Bellemare team will be back on track next weekend for the 10th race of the season, on the Canadian Tire Motorsport Park high-speed road course. The classic layout makes it a favourite of drivers with a strong endurance racing background on demanding layouts, such as Louis-Philippe Dumoulin. He is certainly looking to win again at this track after his two wins here in 2013.<\/p>\n
