NASCAR Pinty’s Series: Autodrome Saint-Eustache<\/strong><\/p>\n

After qualifying his #47\u00a0WeatherTechCanada<\/strong>\u00a0\/ Groupe Bellemare car seventh on the short St-Eustache oval, the Trois-Rivi\u00e8res veteran worked his way up to fifth place early in the race. Louis-Philippe then defended his position with decisive driving of his less-than-perfect car for over 200 laps of this next-to-last race of the season.<\/p>\n

Louis-Philippe Dumoulin tackled the two-lap qualifying session with less than optimal tire pressures, effectively wasting his first timed lap, and leaving him with one timed lap at optimal tire temperature and pressure. The car had understeered and dragged on the ground a little bit on corner entry, losing time and effectively ruining that first timed lap.<\/p>\n

As Louis-Philippe Dumoulin explained later on, “After the first lap, my handling was acceptable for the second lap and my time was much better, but not enough for a Top-3 spot on the grid, which we knew the car was capable of. We were close, but did not have a third timed lap to prove it.”<\/p>\n

Louis-Philippe Dumoulin drove a very “busy” race, moving up to fifth through the leaders over the first 50 laps, when the first caution flag came out. The #47\u00a0WeatherTech\u00a0Canada<\/strong>\u00a0\/ Groupe Bellemare team worked on the suspension settings to eliminate the understeer but did not go far enough to fix it completely over the subsequent 183 laps run under green. Louis-Philippe Dumoulin took up the story: “As the race went on, the tire pressure mistake from qualifying was coming back to make life difficult for us, as did the seven degrees drop in temperature when darkness fell, giving us a little more power but also adding load onto the unhappy suspension.”<\/p>\n

“The car was becoming more and more physical to drive at a strong pace as we got closer to the end. The great news is that this was one of several fifth places finishes over the season for us, as the car kept improving from race to race. This positive evolution was a great motivator for the team and for our partners,” added the driver of the #47\u00a0WeatherTech\u00a0Canada<\/strong>\u00a0\/ Groupe Bellemare team.<\/p>\n

September 16th<\/sup>: ”La Descente\u00a0: Soap Box Derby”<\/div>\n

The ”Le Grand D\u00e9foulement Dumoulin Comp\u00e9tition” continued to raise funds for the Quebec Cancer Foundation this past weekend. We added $220,00 to the total amount raised so far, $6,569.45(Including the $3,500 contribution from Spectra Premium<\/strong> and a further $305.45 from the Bistro du Vieux Port). These contributions all add up to a new grand total of\u00a0$6789,45.<\/strong> We are now down to the last race of the season, your last chance to add your name on one of the Dumoulin brother’s cars. Let’s make it a date:\u00a0next September 23rd<\/sup><\/strong>\u00a0at the Jukasa Motor Speedway\u00a0(Hagersville, Ontario)\u00a0oval, the last race of the NASCAR Pinty’s 2017 season.<\/p>\n

In addition, the “La Descente: Downhill Soapbox Challenge”, also in profit of the Quebec Cancer Foundation, will take place on\u00a0September 16th<\/sup><\/strong>. Teams will compete on the P\u00e8re-Marquette\u00a0(Trois-Rivi\u00e8res, Quebec)\u00a0hill. Organized by the Young Chamber of Commerce of the Mauricie, the event will feature Honorary Presidents Jean-Fran\u00e7ois and Louis-Philippe Dumoulin.
