Dumoulin Compétition wrapped up the 2026 NASCAR Canada Series season second in the drivers’ championship, capping off a remarkably consistent year for Louis-Philippe Dumoulin and the No. 47 car.
Over the 14 races held this year across 11 events in four provinces, the Trois-Rivières native racked up thirteen top-10 finishes, including eight top 5s and three top 3s. That kind of consistency kept him near the top of the standings all season long, and it’s all the more impressive given such a demanding schedule, which alternates between road courses, street circuits and short ovals.
The tone was set right from the season opener at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park, where the No. 47 led four laps before crossing the finish line in second place. A podium at Riverside Speedway confirmed the trend, and the highlight of the year came at home: a second-place finish at the Grand Prix de Trois-Rivières in front of family, friends and tens of thousands of fans. The brand-new Markham Indy, held for the first time this year, delivered another podium for the team, while the ICAR complex in Mirabel and the season finale at Delaware Speedway rounded out a remarkably busy stretch to close out the year.
The season wasn’t without its challenges. The doubleheader at Autodrome Chaudière in Beauce was the clearest example: after mechanical issues following contact in the first race, the team bounced back with a spectacular charge from 20th to 8th in the second. That’s exactly the kind of response that helped limit the damage and protect the team’s spot in the championship.
This result is the product of steady, hard work both in the shop and at the track. The introduction of new McCreary tires, the same for every competitor in the series this year, forced the entire field to find its bearings again. Several technical adjustments were made throughout the season to get the most out of the car in both road course and oval configurations, two separate setups that keep the crew busy between every outing. The progress made in fine-tuning the car translated directly into the consistency the team showed weekend after weekend.
While second place is a well-deserved reward, the ambition doesn’t stop there. Dumoulin Compétition plans to step up its efforts over the offseason, analyzing the data gathered this year, doing in-depth work on the chassis and focusing on the driver’s physical training, all to close the gap and aim for the ultimate goal in 2027: the championship title.
